She broke down the walls of the music business as a singer, performer as well as a designer. She was at once traditional and modern, a Mexican American who united the two worlds in a distinctive method. The sudden loss of her life that destroyed her reputation. On stage, Selena was a strong role model as she actively participated in antidrug and AIDS campaigning.
